Title: Requests

stevehotspur - November 2, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
I was chatting to Pierre tonight and had an idea which he seemed to think was good.
Now if this has been done/tried before then I apologize.
Would it be possible to attach to our noticeboard on the main corridor a little postbox and a wadge of request slips so that visitors could request songs for patients?
The box could be emptied every night and the requests played each night?

Good idea...

The only problem I could see with it would be that some people would shove their rubbish into it.

not if it was a box with a small slot

Yes, of course it's a good idea. Nonetheless, it has been tried in the past, and take-up by passers-by was minimal or non-existent. Not only that, the problem that Reecey highlighted did happen. Mind you, that's not to say it's not worth trying again.

Exeter Hospital Radio have this very system in place. They have a box outside their (much nicer than ours) canteen with a pen and some blank slips. I don't know how popular it is. When I looked it was empty.

We used to have a box on level 4 in which we put lots of magazines for passersby to take. It did used to get filled with rubbish. In the end I think the actual box got knicked. So, if someone can knock up a box which will fit the slot I don't see why we shouldn't try it.
