Hi there,
I feel the need to update you all on what's going on behind the scene in the Press Pit.
St Anns Outside Broadcast - 5th April 2008The finishing touches are being put on this event. RNP will broadcast live shows back to the hospital from St Anns Shopping Centre. We will also be running a fundraising stall. So if you know of anyone/any company who can donate CDs/DVDs/Books/other prizes that are worth winning then please contact me. Similarly, please start thinking about putting your name down for a show.
Hospital Broadcasting Week29th of March until the 5th of April. Obviously, we're beginning it with the Awards Ceremony (good luck everybody!) and ending it with the outside broadcast, but what can we do during the week to emphasise the work we do? I shall endeavour to publicise it as best I can in the local press and local groups. I will also get some publicity around the hospital. Maybe you could do something a bit different in your regular show? Make a big thing of the request shows? Similarly, if you have any ideas then please let me know.
If you do want to do something special during this week, email me as soon as possible so I may include it in the press release and you can get your name in the paper.
Roving ReportersI have organised a couple of events for our roving reporters in the past few months and they seem to have gone swimmingly. The Olympic Roadshow team are just now putting the finishing touches to a special show which will be played on the 24hr system.
Organising these is ultimately rewarding, but I don't have the time to organise them all myself. If you know of an event local to you which you think the patients would like to hear about then please contact me and I will offer you all the help I can give to arrange for you to go an interview people and create a show including training on Adobe Audition (formerly CoolEditPro) and on the mixing desk if required.
Free Tickets! - The real reason you clicked on this postThrough various contacts that have been acquired over the past few months, RNP can get free tickets to concerts and theatre events going on at the Harrow Arts Centre and at Wembley Arena. The catch is that you have to provide a review for the radio station. You may also be called upon to interview the act. You can work alone or go as a group, but you have to provide a review which can be played on RNP.
Free tickets are issued at the discretion of the venue. If five of you want to work as a team to provide the review and I only get two free tickets, the remaining three will have to buy their own tickets.
Now for the Science bit - concentrate!Once again, I don't have time to trawl the "What's On" guide for artists and events going on in the local area or at these venues. IF YOU WANT TO PROVIDE REVIEWS OR REPORT ON EVENTS, PLEASE KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR THEM. WHEN YOU FIND ONE YOU CAN EMAIL ME
HERE. Full training will be provided.
